Gemini in Vedic Astrology

There are many layers to astrology, but at its core, every birth chart is made up of three main components: the planets, the houses, and the zodiac signs. The planets represent different functions of consciousness. The houses show where those functions manifest in your life. The zodiac signs show how that energy expresses itself.

Gemini - “I Know”

Gemini, or Mithuna in Vedic astrology, is the third zodiac sign and is concerned with understanding. While Taurus is busy preserving what it has built, Gemini wants to explore it. Once something exists, Gemini starts asking questions. Heavy Gemini placements often manifest as curiosity and a constant need to engage with the world around them. These qualities come from their ruling planet, Mercury.

Gemini is the first of the three air signs and is associated with communication and learning. It is Rajas in nature, giving it a restless quality that is always searching for something new to think about. In Vedic astrology, Gemini is symbolized by a man and a woman together. This image represents interaction. Gemini learns by exchanging ideas with other people. It wants conversation and feedback. It wants to hear a perspective it hadn't considered before. Left completely alone, Gemini eventually starts looking for something to bounce its thoughts off of.

Gemini Suns tend to define themselves through curiosity. There is usually something they're trying to figure out, whether it's a person or some random topic they stumbled across at two in the morning. Gemini learns by engaging with the world around them. Every new conversation has the potential to teach them something they didn't know before. The more they experience, the more their understanding grows.

Gemini Moon:

The Moon represents the mind and emotions. Gemini Moons tend to process their feelings by talking about them. Sometimes to a friend. Sometimes to themselves. Sometimes to a friend who immediately regrets answering the phone. This placement needs room to think, question, and work through what it's experiencing. The challenge isn't feeling emotions. It's slowing down long enough to sit with them before moving on to the next thought.

Gemini Ascendant:

The Ascendant represents how we move through the world. Gemini Ascendants often approach life with curiosity. They usually want to know what's going on, who's involved, and why everyone is acting so weird. This placement tends to keep one eye on whatever is happening around them because there's always something interesting to learn. They often come across as approachable simply because they are genuinely interested in people.
